PRINCIPLES OF CENTRIFUGAL PUMP OPERATION

A centrifugal pump is designed on the principle o f imparting velocity to the liquid which it is handling, then directing the liquid with its acquired velocity to the point o f use. Velocity is given to the liquid by using the " centrifugal force " which is generated whenever an object is rotated around a central axis . The object being rotated tends to flyaway from the center of rotation due to its velocity. The centrifugal f o rce increases proportionately with the speed of rotation.
