WHAT EXACTLY IS A CONFINED SPACE?
OSHA 29CFR 1910.146 established the confined space entrance standard in April 1993. The standard was created to offer a structured work plan for confined space access. Entry into confined spaces is a frequent occurrence in the industrial sector.
A Confined Space Is One That Is Large Enough For An Employee To Enter And Perform Work.
• Has limited or restricted access or exit points.
• Is not intended for ongoing human habitation.

Permits are required. A Confined Space Is Defined as a confined space plus one of the following:
• Contains a dangerous atmosphere, or has a known potential to have one.
• Contains material that has the potential to engulf.
• Has an internal design that has the potential to entrap or asphyxiate the entrant.
• Contains any known safety or health risk.
