Steam Turbines for Power Plants

Bioenergy is a renewable energy source derived from biological sources. Biomass is any organic material that has stored sunlight in the form of chemical energy, such as wood, straw, dung, sugarcane, or a number of other agricultural wastes. Because of its consistent availability, bioenergy helps to reduce atmospheric methane and carbon emissions, as well as fossil fuel consumption, and it helps to increase energy security.

MAN Diesel & Turbo provides a complete range of steam turbines (2– 40 MW) with proven performance and excellent availability for bioenergy facilities. The efficiency of combined heat and power in industrial biomass facilities is critical. In close collaboration with its clients, MAN Diesel & Turbo is well prepared to optimise the entire water/steam cycle.

The obligation to generate CO2-neutral electricity using renewable energy sources has resulted in a slew of novel solutions. Concentrated solar power (CSP) is one of these alternatives, which has been particularly successful in sun-rich countries.

Mirrors in CSP power facilities reflect solar radiation to a receiver. There are various technologies available for extracting this energy. Sunlight is transformed into heat by mirrors and receivers, which immediately vaporises water into steam or raises the temperature of thermo oil or molten salt. Steam is produced and expanded in a steam turbine driving a generator via water-fed heat exchangers.
